With the safety of drivers, team personnel, and thousands of fans at stake, Formula 1 and the FIA made the difficult but necessary call.
No replacement races were added. Despite exploring alternatives like a return to Imola or the newly contracted Portuguese Grand Prix, the logistics of staging a race on short notice proved impossible. The 2026 season has been reduced from 24 rounds to 22, leaving a five-week gap between Japan and Miami.
It's a heartbreaking moment for the sport. The Bahrain International Circuit has been a cornerstone of the calendar, and the energy of the Jeddah street circuit is unmatched. Both promoters have expressed full support for the decision and look forward to welcoming F1 back when circumstances allow.
For now, the paddock regroups. The Miami Grand Prix on May 1–3 is next up, and teams will use the unexpected downtime to push development on their 2026 machinery. The season is far from over — and when the lights go out in Miami, expect the grid to come back swinging.
